Frequently asked questions from customers.

超撥水加工について、風呂敷の素材やお手入れの仕方、特注品について等、お客様からよくお寄せいただくご質問と、それに対するお答えをまとめました。

A. It may be used with water up to around 60°C, but is not use with boiling water as it is dangerous.

A. It functions in the same way to repel sea water, so it can also be used for sea bathing. However, please make sure to wash it as quickly as possible, otherwise salt residue will remain.

A. It also repel some oil, but please make sure to wash it as quickly as possible, otherwise oil will reduce the water repellency.

A. The main ingredient used in super water-repellent treatment - fluorine - is also used in paper cups and toothpaste. There is no formalin present and the Asakura Senpu water repellent is also used in baby diaper covers.
In addition, the polyester material of the fabric does not produce dioxins even if burnt. You can use the product with confidence.

A. Each NAGARE has the same super water-repellent treatment, but because the thickness and shape of the thread differs between the types of fabric, there is a difference in how much water can leak.
The plain weave NAGARE has the tightest weave, so it is suitable for holding water. The 96 cm square cloth can hold about 10 liters of water.
The Amundsen NAGARE can hold about 4 liters before it begins to leak, so this is not suitable for holding water.
The crêpe NAGARE leaks water almost immediately, so it cannot hold any water.

A. There are slight differences between the types of cloth fabric, but the water repellency after approximately 50 washes will be greater than or equal to Grade 4 (using the JIS L 1092 water repellency test (spray method)).

A. The water repellency will not reduce significantly, even after 50 washes, so it can be used to hold water over and over again. However, if the water is squeezed out similar to a shower, the thread of the fabric may stretch, making it easier for water to pass through and allowing water to leak.
If the cloth is washed and ironed, the texture of the fabric will return to normal.
The water repellency will return to normal by simply air-drying the cloth, but the thread will remain stretched, so washing and ironing is a better method.

A.When cooking, for example, even using the same ingredients, the taste can vary dramatically depending on the amount of ingredients used, the order of preparation, the cooking temperature and time, and so on.
Water repellent treatment is similar to this. We take pride in our world-class water repellent technology "dewelry," which has been developed over many years, in the same way as a skilled chef does his recipes..
Our water repellent treatment began with diaper covers that are supposed to be washed daily. Therefore, our products have superior resistance to washing in comparison with those from other companies, and tend to be stain resistant.

A.lain Weave NAGARE and Amundsen NAGARE are recommended. Especially, Amundsen NAGARE is the largest and made of strong fabric.

A. The water repellency is reduced if detergent or oil adheres to the cloth, but returns to normal after being washed.
However, since fabric softener is water-absorbent, its usage should be avoided to prevent reduction of the water repellency.
Similarly, if something with a lot of fabric softener, such as baby detergent, is used, please rinse the cloth well.
Additionally, after filling with water and wringing out a number of times, the water repellency will return to normal after ironing (at a medium temperature, less than 160°C).

A. Please note that, although static electricity is less noticeable in summer, static electricity is likely to occur in winter, particularly on dry days.

A. Traditional Japanese wrapping cloths are cotton and silk, but the cultivation of cotton and silkworm breeding is becoming rare in Japan, so cotton and silk products these days rely on imports of the raw materials. On the other hand, synthetic fibers, such as polyester, using technology developed based on silk, are the new materials of modern Japan.
"Nagare" is a new wrapping cloth suitable for modern life that is easy to care for and uses polyester, which is highly compatible with the super water-repellent treatment.。
